Pretty edgy

Loving this look

Cheesy saucy goodness

I am super excited to hear that In-N-Out Burger has finally owned up to the rumors and will be expanding to Dallas.  Well, technically, to Garland.  I've only been to Garland once and that was to pick up my stinky cat when she was just a babe.  I don't think there's too much going on out there, but In-N-Out has choosen to expand at Firewheel Town Center.  Get excited!!  Story below:

http://sidedish.dmagazine.com/2010/05/24/in-n-out-burger-comes-to-dallas-details-developing/

This is a burger joint and your options are burger, double burger, fries and shakes.  Luckily on my trip to California last month I got some insight on the not-so-secret-off-the-menu ordering method.  This was quite handy for a non-red meat eater like myself at a burger joint.

Grilled cheese animal style and cheese fries.  Hellllllo goodness :)
Basically this is a loaded burger (minus the meat part) with extra cheese, grilled onions and thousand island dressing.  Fries can come plain, with cheese or animal style.

Drive-Thru alternative

I'm not a chef.  I have to call my mom everytime I make an omlette and I can barely make brownies out of a box.  I can make damn good guacamole thought thanks to Merideth.  We'll talk guac another time.

My favorite quick meal are Amy's Kitchen frozen meals.  Now, I have had a Lean Cuisine and some frozen pizza in my day and they are just ok.  Amy's are super good and super good for you.  All Amy's meals are vegetarian and the line has expanded to include gluten-free, light-in-sodium, dairy-free, Kosher, full meals, snacks and desserts.  See key below.

Whole Foods and Central Market both have a large selection of Amy's.  Target, WalMart and other markets also sell a limited selection of Amy's.  Go check it out if you're like me and are looking for some good, quick and easy meals.

Smoke Monster

I live with the Smoke Monster

LOST and found

I'm a LOST-y.  I was def a super fan the first few seasons.  When the characters started time traveling on and off the island, I got a little, well, lost.  Overall, I'm sure I've seen about 90% of the six season series.  Unless you are living under a rock or are one of those anti-LOST-y's you know that last night was the SERIES finale.  There is quite a bit of criticism circulating the web today, but I thought the finale was a fantastic and respectful way to end the series. Oh, and I know it's a good one when I spend 2.5 hours of my life balling over the episode.  I wasn't just tearing up... I had a COMPLETE meltdown last night.  It all started when Jin and Sun had their flashbacks to the island and I didn't stop crying til the end of the show.  In fact, I kept crying (streaming hot tears, ugly cry) for another 30 minutes after the show ended.  Complete mess.

Anyway, now that I've recovered and pulled myself together, below are some highlights:

Jack and Kate
If I was stranded on an island, I would be just fine as long as I looked like her and got to hang out with a smokin guy like Jack

So, in the finale, Desmond gathers all the survivors together in their flash-sideways (not flash-back or -forward, we're sideways now) and basically everyone finds their island soulmates and friends again and they gather in a "church" in LA.  I say church because when Jack reunites with his dead father, Christian Shephard (get it?), the objects in the background are symbols and icons from all different faiths.  Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Chinese philosophy, etc.  In other words, everything that happened on the island was real and eventually all the survivors are reunited after their various deaths to move on all together into the light.  (Cue the ugly cry.)

Kate and Jack meeting up in the church to leave together

Holy Vampire!!  Who let Damon into the church!?  Just kidding, Boone, who was killed of very early in the series, reunites with Jack

Jack's real death occured on the island.  Vincent the pup rested by his side (sniff sniff)

When all were gathered Christian let the light into the church

Moving on together... and more tears

Hair do's

When I was cleaning out my room and closet and bathroom a couple weekends ago and organizing my things, I came to a conclusion.  I could open up a hair salon with the amount of products I have!

Below are some of my fav products:
This stuff cost about an arm and a leg but it is a FAB shampoo for color-treated hair.  It smells amazing and they must put real gold or miniature French-men in it for the price.  A small bit goes a long way and it will keep your color glowing for weeks and weeks.  (Maybe they'll hire me with compliments like that!)

This is a super great conditioner.  It's very light which is perfect for my fine, oily hair.  Again, you may have to donate a kidney for this line by Loreal, but your hair will be delighted.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening
This stuff rocks.  I love love love Bumble and Bumble.  They don't quite require you to donate a kidney for their products and they have an enormous selection.  This shampoo and conditioner set pumps up my volume without weighing me down.  (Hello?  Who wants to hire me to do their marketing!?)

Let's all take a moment to admire the greatness that is the best thickening spray ever.  Ahhhhhhh.  Now, this stuff is badass.  I use it every day to pump up my roots and add thickness to my normally flat, limp hair.  If you need one thing and that thing is volume, get this spray.

This lotion is perfect for a low-maintenance day, even for a no shower day!  (Not that I would ever do that.)  It smells like mint and gives your hair a light blast of freshness while it moisturizes.  Isn't that a treat!?

Since I don't have any body parts to donate to science, I use these products sparingly.  On my not so fancy days, I used regular old $4 Dove.  Dove rocks.  It smells so yummy and keeps my hairdo in check.

Ooooooh pretty hair!

(My office looks super creepy.  Where is everyone!?)

Is anyone as excited about this crap as I am!?

When you're sick, friends bring you cupcakes!

I had my first cupcake yesterday.  Well, it may have been my first cupcake.  My mom believes I've had one before but we couldn't figure out when I would have had one.  In any case, Heylee bought me one at The Cupcakery.  It was chocolate on chocolate.  I believe I'm still recovering from the sugar.  I did enjoy it though, especially the little chocolate sprinkles on top.

A takeout box for my cupcake!

Star-crossed shenanigans

From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife.
— Romeo And Juliet

So I don't know why I'm thinking about this.  I am quite possible high on allergy and cough medicine.  Anyway, I've been thinking about star-crossed lovers throught time... or just television series.  Below are some of my favs:

1)  Buffy and Angel- Buffy the Vampire Slayer

She's a vampire slayer and he's a vampire with a soul.  Eventually he leaves her to make amends for his sins and for his own spin-off television show, Angel.

2) Peggy and Pete- Mad Men

She's a young, ambitious copywriter at Sterling Cooper (now Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce) and he's a married account executive.  He knocks her up, she has a breakdown and gives the baby up for adoption.  Typical.

3)  Justin and Rebecca- Brothers and Sisters

He's an war vet, former drug user and she's the daughter of the woman who had a lengthy affair with his father.  (Follow all that?)  Are they half-siblings!?  Thanks to modern medicine we find out they aren't... so they fall in love and get married.

4)  Izzy and Denny- Grey's Anatomy

She's a surgical resident at Seattle Grace and he's in need of a heart transfer.
If I'm ever having a bad day, I watch this episode from season 2 and know it could be much worse.  (He dies on prom night.)

5)  Elena and Stefan and Damon- The Vampire Diaries

She's a highschool student and they are two (smokin' hot) vampire brothers fighting over her.  What's a girl to do!?

Next time, movies!

I need more Leo in my life...
